Wax Advent: Day 1

I've seen some of my other favorite blogs making an effort to post daily and I've really enjoyed reading their themed musings the past few months, so I've decided to try and post every day of December too!

Since I recently purchased my first ever wax advent calendar from The Scented Squirrel , I plan to do a little post each day about that day's scent and my thoughts for the day.
Even though I have been melting wax since 2011, I had never heard of a wax advent calendar and thought it was such a fun and novel idea! Apparently I am out of the loop because several great vendors are selling various themed advent wax calendars. The Scented Squirrel's scents and reasonable prices appealed to me so I decided to give it a shot.
For those not familiar with the concept of an advent calendar, it is a "calendar containing small numbered flaps, one of which is opened on each day of Advent, typically to reveal a picture appropriate to the season." Over the years it has involved to include small surprise gifts or treats. Many companies now offer various advent calendars.

My mom has a vintage 1980's Avon cloth advent calendar with a cheerful little mousie to help count down the days until Christmas. This was one of my favorite holiday traditions as a child.

The Scented Squirrel's version doesn't have an actual calendar but it has numbered scents to melt each day until Christmas, stored in a pretty holiday tin. Since I love to participate in wax melting challenges anyway, this concept really appealed to me.
December 1st's scent is Frosted Pinecones- pine, spruce, rosemary, carnation, cedar and spice.

I love that the specific scent notes are included right on the package!
I also love the fact that each melt is a different fun shape.
On cold sniff this scent smells wonderfully of strong, realistic pine needles dusted with a sprinkling of snow and warm, rich spices. Very unique!

I am currently enjoying this first advent scent very much. Have you ever tried any type of advent calendar? What are your favorite wax scents to melt in December?

  1. This sounds like a scent right up my alley! And I totally agree - it's awesome that the scent notes are included on the label!

I used to do advent calendars with my siblings that were filled with candy. Nowadays I don't really do advent calendars. I always forget about them until it's already December and then I feel like I can't start the calendar in the middle! lol

I really like pomegranate cider and pine scents for December. Peppermint blends are a plus, too, but I tend to melt those year round anyway.
