It's that time of year again! As the warmer weather soothes stiff joints and brushes off the last vestiges of winter, homes beg for the same fresh start everyone promised themselves at the beginning of the year. Clothes are donated, rooms are scrubbed, and yards are tended. While the fauna leave their winter dens or return from long migrations, the world blooms with new growth in vibrant splashes of color.
For April's Band of Bloggers post, we will answer a few questions about Spring and the ever-loved Spring Cleaning. Feel free to join in and answer these questions in the comments below!
Do you decorate for Spring?
I personally don't decorate much for any season or holiday, not because I don't enjoy seasonal decor but because I have limited space and funds. I do enjoy the beauty of spring outdoors though and love to take walks and snap photos of the beautiful blue sky, fluffy clouds and blooming wildflowers. I appreciate each season but spring certainly adorns itself in a beautiful mantle.
Here are some of the beautiful California poppies that grow on my property.

Are there any products you find yourself reaching for as the weather warms? This can be anything; food, clothing, bath and body, wax, you name it!
For home fragrance I've been enjoying mixed fruit and tropical wax blends lately as well as some good non-artificial fresh air and sea salt type scents. I also adore herbal blends for spring and lavender/lemon and rosemary/mint have captivated me recently. For body I love some florals: BBW's Love and Sunshine and French Lavender & Honey are two of my faves. I also love coconut for spring and summer and BBW's Oahu Coconut Sunset is a longtime favorite. I am branching out in to more fresh scents; I didn't used to care for very many at all. BBW's Summer Nights Beach Marshmallow is the perfect blend of fresh with a hint of smoky sweetness to me. I've also recently fallen in love with BBW's newest scent release: At The Beach. I'd describe it as a clean sea breeze with touches of suntan lotion and musk, both fresh and warm. I managed to get a travel sized perfume spray for under $5 on sale and have been wearing it frequently.
As far as food goes, I crave fresh fruit a lot in spring, especially melons, strawberries and bananas. I also recently found Stash Lemon Ginger tea when I was sick and that along with a spoonful of honey is a new favorite beverage!

This is not necessarily spring related but I recently fell in love with rolled tacos from a local authenticMexican joint, smothered in fresh guacamole, lettuce, tomato and cheese! I may have gotten them half a dozen times last week... oops.
Do you participate in the Spring Cleaning craze?
I clean whenever I can muster up the energy to do so. To be honest it is one of my most hated chores so no big spring cleaning spree for me. I usually end up doing a deep cleaning every few months, especially before a holiday or when I know I'm having company over. Otherwise I just spot clean the necessary things. In my opinion life's too short to obsessively clean something that will just be dirty again the next day. I am due for another big cleaning day though, so I guess I will count that as spring cleaning.

I've been skipping right past my BBW beach collection emails, but your description sounds right in my wherlhouse. I love salty sea blends in perfume and in wax, but usually not till summer. Agreed on the lavender/mint combos, but my nose has been rejecting lemon lately.
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning flowers, don't think I've seen golden poppies before, only daffodils are out around here.
I don't know what a rolled taco is but it sounds great (chicken version for me) love me some guac! Good luck on the dreaded deep clean:(
Your flowers are stunning!!! How to you resist the urge to bound up and down amid the riotous color?! Your sweet description of spring did remind me that the brief mild spring we have does have some plus sides: the cloudless breezy days, kite flying and orange blossoms.
ReplyDeleteYou taunt me with your talk of fresh fruits. The cost of strawberries is about to skyrocket since they're going out of season. T_T
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing I unsubscribed to BBW's emails. There are no stores in Korea and I'm trying to get myself to try more Korean brands while I'm here, so they've managed to stay off my radar. I did bring several of my favorite scents from them, but they're already running low or depleted.
I agree with Julie. Those flowers are gorgeous! I want to run around in them.
