Wax Haul: Pink Mermaids Wax

At the beginning of May I was getting my month's melting basket together for the two melting challenges I participate in and I realized I was out of scents for two of the theme days: shaving cream blends and wedding cake blends. I had the ordering bug, so I must have looked through a dozen different wax vendors sites looking for those types of scents that would be ready to ship so I could have them in time to melt for the theme days. I was not having success with any of my usual favorite vendors, so I finally googled the blend names and low and behold I found them both available from Pink Mermaid Wax Melts! I was familiar with this brand from Instagram, but I had never tried any of their melts before, so I was excited to try a new to me brand.

When browsing their site, several of their 1.5 (approx.) wax melts were on sale for $1.35 each; definitely a fair price. I was very impressed by the adorably decorated wax cups topped with lots of glitter and little wax shapes such as seashells. After I placed my order I received a nice personal message saying that my order was all packed up and would ship out the next day; awesome!

My order arrived about 5 days after placing it, well in time for my monthly melting challenges. I was so pleased with the speedy shipping and excellent customer service. The wax was very securely packaged in 3 padded envelopes and a ton of tissue paper. Every item was perfectly in tact and the packaging had a lot of cute touches such as fruit patterned ribbons and the free samples came in this hilarious emoji bag.

I ordered a dozen scent shots, most of them being fun summery blends. I wanted to get even more but I had to keep my order reasonably sized. They also had adorable mini pies with mermaid tails for $5 I would definitely like to purchase a couple of those in the future.

I was happy to open my order and find that everything looked as beautifully decorated as it was on the site, and each of the blends smelled wonderful on cold sniff; not a discordant note in the bunch.

I also received 4 free samples: one full sized scent shot and 3 little bags of shell shapes. Two of them were unlabeled but still smell great.
I haven't melted any of these delightful tarts yet but I have two of them in the lineup, so check back for those reviews! If the throw on most performs well, I would definitely love to order from Pink Mermaid again.

Have you ever tried Pink Mermaid Wax Melts? Do any of these blends sound interesting to you?

Recent Wax Reviews

LSC Lemon Custard Cookies: one of the strongest and yummiest lemon scents I've melted! A decadent lemon bar type aroma, both sweet and tart. Strong throw for 10 hours. Overall grade: A+ Would repurchase.

Candles From The Keeping Room Lemon Meringue Pie: another delicious and realistic sweet, creamy lemon blend! Fairly strong throw for about 8 hours. Adorable pie shape. Overall grade: A. Would repurchase.

Pearl Rose Candle Co Let It Go: inspired by a certain movie of course. It's a pleasant scent; florals, perfumey musk and soft woods to my nose. Fairly strong throw for about 8 hours. Overall grade: A-. Might repurchase.

Super Tarts Lucky Lemons: a delicious lemon and warm pastry type scent. Unfortunately the throw was moderate to light for a few hours. This is an older looking tart that I received in a destash. Would love to try it fresh since I hear raves about it. Overall grade: B+. Would repurchase.

Kitty's Konfections Admit One- fizzy cola and vanilla ice cream. A realistic cola float type scent, both bubbly and creamy. Strong throw for about 8 hours. Overall grade: A. Cannot repurchase.

Glitterati Lemon Toasted Coconut Cookie: I sure melted some great lemon scents this week! This is a wonderfully rich lemon with creamy tropical coconut. Strong throw for about 8 hours. Overall grade: A. Would repurchase.

Destination Wax Thai Sticky Rice: a unique gourmand scent. I'm not sure what rice would smell like generally as a fragrance note because this is my first encounter with it, but I really like this scent! It is slightly sweet and almost breadlike; it reminds me of the warm rice with milk and brown sugar my mom used to serve me as a kid. After several hours I also got an almost kettle corn type of scent. I would highly recommend this for those that like unique foody scents. Fairly strong throw for about 8 hours. Overall grade: A. Would repurchase.

Hayden Rowe Hazelnut Coffee: not a super robust coffee blend, more of a sweet hazelnut creamer type with a bit of coffee and spice. Strong throw for about 6-7 hours. Overall grade: A-. Would repurchase.

Destination Wax Lavender Manuka Honey: a fabulous blend! Lavender is herbal and slightly powdery; honey is rich and earthy and very strong. A very realistic and unusual blend. Strong throw for about 9 hours. Overall grade: A. Would repurchase.

Candles From The Keeping Room Spiced Coquito: a delectable spiced bakery type blend. Strong throw for about 10 hours. Overall grade: A. Would repurchase.

Candy Panda Pumpkins In Paris: a creamy pumpkin purée with strong pumpkin spice and warm bakery notes. Makes me hungry and longing for fall. Super strong throw for 10+ hours. Overall grade: A+. Would repurchase.

Band Of Bloggers May 2017 Vol. 17

May, May, May. Welcome back, ol' friend! May is a turning point in the year for a lot of people. The school year is almost over, summer is coming soon, and those mild months will soon become scorchers. The birthstone of May is the emerald, which symbolizes love and success. This month, we're focusing on those two things!

We all love something with all our hearts, so tell us what you love the most. It could be the story of how you met your spouse/significant other, where you got your pet, or a nod to your parental units.
I really love the story of how I met my husband. We lived two miles away from each other but he was four years older than me and in childhood when the opposite sex has cooties, we didn't really associate. I did remember him from elementary school because he was known for being a track star; super speedy and agile as a young boy. Many years later he confessed he remembered me as a little girl he had accidentally hit in the head with a basketball.
Fast forward several years to my first day of high school. I lived way out in the middle of nowhere and was the first one on the school bus every morning. Well, the second person to embark that bus was a handsome young man with a guitar, golden summer tan and glowing blonde curls. I was literally captivated at first sight. I remember the first thing he said to me was something like "Who the heck are you?" He was surprised that someone lived further out in the boonies than him.
We struck up an hours long conversation that day and quickly became fast friends. We had so much in common I used to joke he was the male version of me. I had a romantic crush on someone else at the time, but after about 6 months of enjoying his friendship I realized he was the one for me. He was a very respectful and thoughtful young man, making a good impression on my very protective parents and enduring chaperoned dates for the first couple years of our relationship. The older we got the more freedom we were allowed, and I feel blessed to have all my favorite memories with the person that would become my life partner. From school dances to road trips and stressful school work and issues at home, my love has always been there for me every step of the way. One of the happiest days of my life was when we married after 5 years of dating. It might be unusual to be with the same person since adolescence, I wouldn't change a single second of it.
Here's a photo from my senior prom.
 So young!

In terms of success, and keeping it blog related, have you ever participated in and/or completed a successful "project wax" or spring wax/perfume/makeup/scented product purge? Have you ever had so much product you felt the need to use it all up before your bought again?
I usually tend to do several smaller purges whenever I feel I have an excess of products I don't need or won't use. I usually give scents or products that aren't for me away to people I think will enjoy them. Over the last few months I've sent four large wax packages to my brother-in-law who's just getting into vendor wax. I've also sent quite a few goodie packages to my bloggy wax and bath & body loving friends. Same goes for nail polish; I like to rehome whatever I don't love to people who will use it. I did recently reorganize my bath and body stash, putting away some of the scents I mainly use in fall and winter and bringing out the spring/summer scents. It's nice to have several scents within easy reach. There are certain things I try not to buy often, such as scrubs because I use them so slowly. I did do a wax and polish no buy back in January and I've certainly been buying less overal since then than I did last year. There are a few soaps, body washes and lotions I'm focusing on using up. I give away a ton of wax and melt every day, but somehow the stash never seems to dwindle.

NOTD: Summery Peach & Stripes

ChG Son of a Peach; I agree with those who've said that this has terrible formula. One of my few polishes that takes 4 coats to not be a streaky nightmare. But I keep it because I love the final color. I'm really happy with how this mani turned out; it's perfect for the weather that just reached the 90's today. Not too happy about the heat.

Other colors used are ChG Shocking Pink, OPI Super Star Status and Zoya Amanda.
