Recent Wax Reviews

Up The Creek Pink Chiffon Rainforest: this scent was a nice blend of sweet and fresh on cold sniff. It was like pink sugar and greenery and fresh rain, but the throw was almost non existent. I could only smell it with my nose right above the warmer. (Melted whole tart on Glade hot plate warmer in a small room.) Overall grade: C. Would not purchase.

Swanky Lemon Cake Sweet on Paris: This was a yummy sweet lemon bakery aroma with a touch of perfumey pink sugar. It had a nice, moderate throw that lasted all day. Overall grade: A-. Might repurchase.

Starry Skies High Tea With Emily (pumpkin cupcake + tea & cakes): a super yummy, classic tea & cakes scent that is rich and warm with a touch of creamy pumpkin goodness. Very well done! Strong throw that lasted all day. Overall grade: A+. Would repurchase.

Kitty's Konfections Twisted & Nuts (caramelized prailenes & funnel cake): a predominantly cinnamon sugar bakery aroma. I didn't get much caramel or nuttiness. Smelled good on cold but surprisingly light throw. I get much better throw from her older wax. The stuff from the last restock before she closed up shop doesn't seem as strong to me. Overall grade: C-. Cannot/would not repurchase.

Kitty's Konfections Venti No Whip (toasted marshmallow pumpkin spice latte): mainly pumpkin spice with just a hint of coffee. Moderate throw for about 4 hours, becoming very light thereafter. Again, not as good of a performance as past KK scents I've melted. Overall grade: B-. Cannot/would not repurchase.

The Scented Squirrel Election Day (hot apple pie + American cream): a nice and creamy spiced apple bakery scent. Surprisingly light throw for me though; most of this brand's scents I've tried have been fairly strong. This one had light throw for about 8 hours. Overall grade: B. Probably wouldn't repurchase.

Fall Fun Series: Fall Colors Collage

This time of year I happen to love a palette of rich jewl toned colors mixed with metallics and neutrals, so I thought I'd show you some of my most beloved accessories for fall!

Burgundy
One of my favorite burgundy nail polishes is OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest. It is somewhat hard to find these days, but there's often a few bottles lurking on Ebay.
I adore this 100% wool wide brimmed hat; it makes me feel very bohemian chic and I found it for a song from this Ebay seller.
My burgundy handbag is from Forever 21. For faux leather it is surprisingly luxurious and durable; I have had great luck with their bags. This is not currently available, but they have many other great styles.
The ubiquitous blanket scarf. This has been resurfacing every fall for the past couple of years, probably because it is adorable and feels like a fluffy hug. Passè? Eh, you decide. They are still widely available through many Ebay sellers.

Iridescent Turquoise & Purple
A new polish obsession this fall is Picture Polish Meow. Deep teal, sparkles and cat references? What's not to love? Available here.
I scored these lovely faux druzy earrings for only $3 at Country Mermaids. She has a wide variety of beautiful jewelry available.
Another absolute stunner of a polish comes from a new to me indie brand Pop Polish. You can view this gorgeous duchrome called Slick Like That and many others here.
My super fun and snazzy galaxy scarf is from overseas seller Wish.

Neutrals & Metallics
This super soft gray knit infinity scarf was also picked up at Forever 21 last year.
Juliette is the name of this holo-tastic rose gold polish from ILNP.
My workhorse little black bag was actually from Payless last spring.
This beautiful white opalescent and gold tone tassel necklace is from Walmart, believe it or not.
These super trendy black lace up flats are also from Payless.

What are your favorite colors to wear during fall? How are those colors reflected in your wardrobe?

The Scented Squirrel All Hallow's Eve: this is a really unique blend. Notes of "pumpkin, persimmon, apples, blueberries, elderberries, currants, cinnamon, sugarcane and vanilla." It is a lovely blend of pumpkin, fruits and spices; after it had been melting several hours it kind of smelled like bubblegum to me. It had moderate throw for about 10 hours. Overall grade: A-. Would repurchase.

BHG Gourmet Cookie Shop: a lovely sugar cookie aroma with a pinch of exotic spices. A favorite for sure. Strong throw for 12+ hours. Overall grade: A+. Would repurchase.

The Bathing Garden Seasonal Madness:
"Smells of sweet cotton candy glazed apples, creamed corn, vanilla frosting, and pumpkin pudding." Smells like a delicious pumpkin/apple/cornbread blend to me.Fairly light throw for about 6-8 hours. I wish it were stronger. Overall grade: B. Probably wouldn't repurchase.

Beezy Peppermint Bark: a super strong and realistic chocolate/peppermint blend! Strong throw that lasted all day. Overall grade: A+. Would repurchase.

Vintage Chic Scents Art Deco:
The notes are watermelon and pomegranate. This had a nice, vaguely fruity scent to it, but the throw was very light for me. Overall grade: C. Would not repurchase.

Kitty's Konfections Fancy Ass Laundry Detergent: a sample from my last order. I detest most laundry scents, but this one was pleasant. It was fruity and fresh, like an apple mango tango type scent. Moderate throw for about 10 hours. Overall grade: A. Can't repurchase due to business being closed.
