NOTD: Uber Chic Mat Tutorial

If you love to do custom nail art, you need the Uber Chic Beauty mat! It's a placemat sized flexible silicone mat with nail design templates. I'd seen a lot of nail gurus on Instagram making their own custom nail decals with Uber Chic mats, so I decided to try my hand at it too. As this was my first time attempting this, please forgive the imperfections. Polishes used are Zoya Roxy, NYC Black Lace Creme, Revlon Gel Envy Top Coat. Stamping tools are MoYou London XL Marshmallow stamper, scraper, and Pro Plate 04.

1) Paint a clear quick dry top coat on the fingernail templates on the mat and allow to dry for a few minutes.

2) Paint polish on a stamping plate design, remove excess polish with scraper, and transfer design onto stamper.

3) Press stamper onto clear nail polish on the mat. Don't worry if it's not perfectly centered.

4) Paint desired background color over stamped image on mat. (What I learned here is that your stamping polish and background color should have high contrast. Otherwise the image won't show up particularly well.)

5) With tweezers carefully remove the dry decal from the mat.

6) Place decal topside down on the desired nail, pressing down around cuticle with an orangewood stick.

7) Trim excess edges with nail scissors/clippers.

8) Paint decals with top coat.

Et VoilĂ !

Review: Knickknaxwax Snow White Tart

On cold sniff this scent smells like a mild, musky patchouli. When melting I also get slight hints of nuttiness and smoky incense. It is an interesting scent; not unpleasant, but it doesn't wow me either. I'm not sure what Lush's Snow White is supposed to smell like, but I find it an odd and not very descriptive name for this scent. Some patchouli blends I love, others I hate, and this one is just meh to me. I like that it's not punch you in the nose strong, but the throw is a little too light for my liking. I haven't been this confused by a scent in a long time. Overall grade: C+. A decent fragrance, but the throw is surprisingly light. Wouldn't repurchase this particular scent. All the other scents I've tried so far from this vendor have been strong and fabulous.

Review: Knickknaxwax Rose Jam Tart

Authentic fresh rose scent with a hint of sweetness on cold sniff and when melting. Strong throw but not cloying. Has lasted for several hours without fading. I adore it! Best rose tart I've tried in a long time. Cannot attest as to whether it smells like the Lush Rose Jam products as I've never smelled them, but I really want to try them now! Overall grade: A+ would repurchase.

Reviews: BBW VBN 3-wick & SGA tart

On cold sniff this Sassy Girl Aroma tart does smell like buttermint candies and sugar cookies; scrumptious! When melting it's a little harder to pick out the complexities of the scents and it just smells like a yummy peppermint/vanilla blend. All the mint/vanilla blends I've tried are starting to smell alike to me, but I don't mind because I love them! This one was strong for about 8 hours and then slowly faded. Overall grade: A.

Picked up a Vanilla Bean Noel 3-wick candle from Bath & Body Works yesterday. I love the body care products so much, and this is actually my first time having the candle. On cold sniff it smells just like the VBN I expect; a warm, rich, buttery vanilla bakery scent. When melting the throw is pleasant but moderate. For the price I would prefer it to be stronger. I can smell it when I stand near the candle, but it doesn't fill the rooms with fragrance. Fortunately it performs well in other areas. Even wax pool and no drowning wicks. Overall Grade:B.
